Wasted Faith
by Jim Elliff
I mentioned a while back that I'd say something more about this book. Here's some quotes:
“No correctly worded prayer is an automatic door opener to eternal life from God.”
The rich young ruler wanted to have eternal life.
” We would have immediately welcomed this man into the faith.”... He seemed so sincere and ready.............While many today would have led this sincere fellow in a sinner's prayer and affirmed him as a believer........Jesus demanded far more.....a complete reversal of affections.”
“Like the genuine Christian, the false believer may also experience a sense of comfort. The two may initially look alike to those around them. But they can usually be distinguished by what happens in the months and years after they believe.”
"Many who now show none of the fruit of genuine saving faith made these types of commitments or “decisions” at some point in their past. Saving faith is an initial and ongoing belief in the truth about Jesus Christ (who He is and what He has done) and a lifelong reliance upon Him alone for salvation.”
...................................................................................................................................................................
Even the demons know (believe) who Jesus is.
