Events and news today:
Our church has been praying for a child in our church who had heart surgery. Hopefully he is doing well now - but it looked scary for a while. He had the initial surgery - then had to go back in due to problems - and then they left his heart area open to wait and see how it would turn out. Thursday night they closed it up. This was at the UW hospital in Madison, WI.

Friday his surgeon had an argument with his wife resulting in his shooting her in the face and then killing himself. It's a terrible experience for both families - the surgeon's family and the family of the little boy. - Having your child go through surgery is a nerve racking experience in itself - but to have their child's surgeon die in such an awful manner at his own hand has to be earth shaking. Life is full of unhappy surprises.

We just came home from a farewell potluck dinner for the Arms family in our church who are moving to Texas. The party was in the country. (I like visiting the country and experience the quiet atmosphere.) As we were leaving Darrell Arms said "See you at Luke's wedding". That was neat to hear. They had a positive impact on our church during their 5 years here and they'll be missed.

It looks like it may storm here.
