The Fish

When I was a kid I liked the "comics" section of the newspaper. I remember one was an ongoing story of a pair of identical twin boys (Christians) who lived during the time of the persecution - when Jesus' disciples were spreading the word.

It was my comic reading days when I first learned what the fish symbol meant. The boys had the symbol of a fish on the palm of their hands. It secretly identified them as Christians to other Christians. The 5 letters of the Greek word for fish are the first letters in the words - Jesus Christ, God's Son, Savior.

Those Christians risked their lives to worship together. Today we question whether it's important to our faith. I wonder what would they think? (Just wondering.)
