Things to Come...

I just read that President Obama called the passage of their health bill a "victory for the American people" - even though most of us did not want it! Just how does one not understand when told "Help those that need it but leave the rest of us alone!" or "Fix only what is broken!".

Since common logic doesn't get through - we have to know there is something else going on here. I'm afraid we made the biggest mistake in the history of our country when Obama was voted in. What will be going on trial now isn't just the health bill but the Constitution and freedom.

There may be something good that has come of this. More Americans than ever before have begun paying attention to what has been going on. There was probably a record number of people listening to the process in the Congress yesterday. We watched on the internet as each party yielded the 30-45 seconds and the 1 minutes to congressmen and "gentle congresswomen" - to speak. The procedure was interesting - even though the outcome was so grossly disappointing.

Leon came home from a meeting the other day where they were informed of more laws in construction of homes - old and new. Where just a few years ago there was only a $10. building permit involved - now there are numerous inspections costing $1,200.- $1,500. - plus new certification and license fees for contractors. The newest involve lead based paint cleanup in homes older than 1978. Contractors must use a special vacuum cleaner - which the government inspectors happen to sell for $500.

"New jobs" created by government? I think it's private sector jobs we wanted. Maybe there is someone who could get through with that message but I doubt it. It's pretty clear that this administration is headed in another direction. They've already demonstrated that they will not seriously listen to objections. We get the last word at the ballet box - but that's after the damage is done.

They remind me of hungry dog politicians with the fresh meat of power... No one can stop them. Even though the pack is temporarily satisfied there is reason to shudder. They're already sniffy the next piece of meat.
