Do You Feel Like a Trophy?
We watched a DVD tonight - about prayer. It was awesome. It included a story about a makeup artist who was a success in his field but lost it all and almost his life when drugs got the best of him. There were pictures of him after the drugs took over and he was living on the streets. He got down to 108 lbs!
The story goes that a Christian model he was working with, witnessed to him - told him that he was in trouble (this was before he actually crashed on drugs) and that he needed to reach out to God - that Jesus was the answer (paraphrasing here).
He thought she was a fanatic and pretty much forgot it until he was living on the streets. To shorten the story - He finally did reach out to God - in the hospital . He spends a lot of time now telling others about what God did for him. (He also is back in the makeup business.) He said he feels like he is one of God's trophies.
I never thought of it like that before. It's quite a claim. What do you think? Do you feel like one of his trophies? We know where we came from. We don't have to have been where that guy was to know we were in trouble. We just needed to see ourselves as God saw us and forget the "I'm as good as the next guy" idea. It was pretty sobering for me. Trophy huh? Whoa! That involves God being proud of us!!
Can He? Hmmm..... It's something to shoot for!
