The fixture problem is sort of solved.

Remember the canning lid?
Leon cut a piece of white metal to fit around behind this light base to close the gap from the too large hole that was cut in the drywall. (For some reason I couldn't get a better picture of this)
Anyway, this is a temporary solution. Looks O.K....for now.
